Walking Again: Moqadas’s Story of Resilience

Eleven-year-old Moqadas’s life changed forever when a leg injury led to a devastating diagnosis—bone cancer. Her father, a hardworking taxi driver in Kabul, struggled to afford the costly medical treatments her son desperately needed.

When HBT learned about Moqadas’s situation, we made a promise: he would not face her battle alone. By giving her a Kindness Card, we reassured her that a network of support stood behind her. To ease her journey, we launched a campaign to cover her medical expenses, secured a treatment visa, and arranged all necessary steps to receive urgent care in Pakistan. Along with financial support, we provided a care package for Moqadas, filled with essentials to bring her comfort during her difficult time.

A Difficult Road to Recovery

Upon arriving in Pakistan, Moqadas was admitted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital, but her condition quickly worsened. Medical tests revealed that her tumor had grown beyond 9 cm, making it impossible for the hospital to treat her. With no time to lose, he was referred to IRNUM, a specialized private hospital.

Doctors delivered heartbreaking news: the only way to save Moqadas’s life was to amputate her leg. Delaying the surgery could put her at even greater risk. Faced with painful reality, we moved forward with the operation, which was successfully performed.

After months of enduring hardship and pain, a final round of medical tests brought incredible news—Moqadas’s cancer was completely gone! No longer in danger, he could finally begin to rebuild her life. Throughout her journey, your unwavering support gave her strength. HBT provided Moqadas with a wheelchair to boost her morale, along with a care package for cancer patients, including essential nutrients and supplements to help her body recover.

With renewed hope and determination, Moqadas took on her next challenge—learning to walk again. After 24 days of dedicated practice, he successfully adapted to her prosthetic leg. Now, thanks to your generosity, he can walk freely without the need for a wheelchair.

In three months, he will undergo a follow-up examination to monitor her progress and ensure her prosthetic leg is functioning well. Moqadas’s journey from struggle to triumph was made possible because of you. Your kindness and compassion gave her a second chance at life, and for that, we are forever grateful. Thank you for being part of her story.

Moqadas’s journey is a testament to the power of kindness and community. But there are still countless cancer patients, young and old, who are battling their disease and need comfort, care, and support. A care package for cancer patients—filled with nutritious food, medical supplies, and emotional support items—can make a world of difference in their recovery. By donating or assembling a care package, you’re not just giving essentials; you’re giving strength, hope, and a reminder that they are not alone. Join us today in making a meaningful impact—because even the smallest act of kindness can help someone fight their hardest battle.
